The tie between Burma rebel and Non-government organization in Mizoram
20 July 2005: Zozam, a Mizoram local magazine, on its 12-18 July issue claimed a linkage between Chin National Confederation (CNC) and Young Mizo Association (YMA) from two letters being posted to two YMA branch.
According to Newslink, Lalrinmawia, the President of Hruaikawn village of Champhai district requests the Bulfek village YMA branch president to be hospitable to the CNC, as the CNC would be handy in the campaign against drugs. The Bulfek YMA branch president was instructed to provide food and other necessity to the CNC.
The paper further mentioned that Bulfek YMA had warmly welcomed and received four members of CNC. The CNC reportedly spent a night in Bulfek and left for Sesih village.
Meanwhile, Mr. J.H. Zoremthanga, Vice president of Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) denied the nexus between CNC and YMA in anti-drug campaign, as being flashed in the media.
Some observer in Mizoram also believes the possibility of YMA and CNC linkage, as Champhai branch YMA could successfully intervened in the deportation drama of some members of CNC recently. The YMA were successful in preventing the Mizoram police to hand over the deportees to the Military authorities in Burma.
Mizoram police raid the office of CNC in Aizawl and 11 member of CNC including Vice President Mr. Fung Kung had been arrested. KNG
