Indian Government Repatriated three CNC members to Burma Military Junta

16 June 2005: Mizoram state government of North East India repatriated three people, allegedly the members of Chin National Confederation (CNC), to the Burma's SPDC government at Indo-Burma Border Trade Bridge No.2 on 13th June 2005.

Champhai jail truck backed up to the centre of Zokhuathar Bridge and hand over three people to the another truck which backed up from the other side of the bridge, reports a man from Zokhuathar. The Mizoram Police (MRP) and the Burmese army and Police carry out the whole drama of this repatriation operation.

 

"The faces of the repatriated were covered. One person was tall and bodily built, we could not know who he was. The Burmese authority takes them to Rikhuadar." said the man from Zokhuathar.

 

Prior to the detention of the CNC Vice President and twelve other members of the organization in Aizawl, Champhai police had apprehended five CNC members. CNC Champhai area Army Commander, Mr. Joshua, Mr. Sawma, Mr.Lalluaisanga and anther undisclosed members were apprehended and jailed by Champhai police on 5th June 2005.

 

The 13th June issue of the Aizawl Post had published that Champhai police apprehended three members of CNC on 11th June and will be repatriated to their country.

 

This repatriation of Chin rebel group to the Military Junta of Burma is the first ever case since the signing of MOU between India and Burma on October 2004.

 

The Assam Rifle Tuipang Post Commander had repatriated Mr. Mang Duh Tling of the Chin National Army to Captain Nyi Nyi Lwin of LIB – 266 of Burma army in the year 1999. KNG
