The Burmese Army assailed CNC in Indo- Burma border
16 June 2005: The Burmese army assailed the Chin National Confederation (CNC) at Bulfet village, Rih(new)Township, Northern Chin state last noon.
A report has been received from a reliable source from Tio village that the Burmese army were aware of the presence and assailed a CNF member at the resident of one Mr. Paua in Bulfet, about one furlong from the border village of Zokhuamawi. The CNC member escaped unhurt. Meanwhile, two other members of CNC who were reportedly at a nearby house of one Mr. Nai Kham, flee on hearing the encounter. Nobody is reported wounded or killed in the encounter.
According to a man from Zokhuamawi," The Burmese army did not fire at the house directly but only a warning shots above the roof of the house. If they fired at the house, all the ten people inside the house will be killed."
About ten soldiers of LIB 266, under the command of Captain Khai, came from Fartlang camp to assail the CNC after receiving a report of the later presence at Bulfet. Bulfet is reportedly about (3) kilometers from Fartlang. Our sources report that after the assailant, the Burmese army ordered the people of Bulfet to leave the village before two days time. Nobody was reportedly wounded or killed in the encounter.
Mr. Paua, the host of the CNC member was wounded in many parts of his body and his head bleed due to the torture of the Burmese soldiers.
Five Mizoram Indian Reserved Force (IR) and one Mizoram Police (MRP) stationed at Champhai heard the gun encounter, while patrolling the border. The Indian security forces reportedly approached the Burmese army and surveyed the venue of the shoot out along with the Burmese army.
The Superintendent of Police, Mr. Lalhuliana, reportedly received the Indian security force at Zotekawn village, about seven kilometers from Champhai, a resident of Champhai told our reporter.
The Burmese army reportedly apprehended a truck driver and two other labors, collecting sand from. Tio River, after the gunfight. However, the foursome was release after negotiating with the IR and MRP, report our source.
In execution of the MOU between India and Burma, signed last October, the Mizoram government had apprehended twelve CNC members in Aizawl and about five members of the same organization in Champhai recently. This MOU was chalked out when the Head of SPDC, Senior General Than Shwe, visited India last October.
Three rebel groups of Burma-CNC, ZRA and CNA operate from Mizoram state of India. The CNA were pressurized to evacuate its Headquarters – Camp Victoria, by the Guvernment of India. KNG
