Two SPDC military police died and one seriously injured in a brawl

3 June 2005: Two SPDC Military Police died and one seriously injured in a brawl with two civilians in Matupi town, Southern Chin State.

Three drunken Matupi Military Police Lance Corporal ZawZawAung, Sein Min Oo and Min Min reportedly had a clash with two civilians in front of the electric powerhouse office of Matupi at around 8 pm (BST) on the 5th of May 2005.

 

The trio was reportedly returning to their camp after a drink from a liquor shop at khuaboi Blick of the town, said a local man from Matupi (withheld the name for security concern). Sein Min Oo died on the spot while Lance Corporal ZawZawAung and MinMin were reported taken to the civil hospital. Min Min succumbed to his injuries in oblivion after three days of the incident.

 

The army checked and questioned late night stalkers in an attempt to apprehend the unidentified grudged duo and detained some suspected youth. Meanwhile, some youths of the town, in a cautious move, flee to the surrounding villages to avoid detention and interrogation as suspects.

 

"Soldiers often created public nuisance in the town when they were drunk. The local dare not take any action against such annoyance soldiers; some youth had grudged the soldiers behaviors since long back though "said the man from Matupi.

 

The man continues "The soldiers loiter throughout the night stealing chickens and eggs of the local flocks. Meanwhile, the local flocks dare not complain such nuisance of the soldiers in fear of dire consequence. The soldiers intimidated the people to venture out at night. Women, flocks and children dared not attain even church services at night."

 

In Matupi town, two SPDC soldiers had been beaten to dead in previous by civilians while stealing chickens and eggs of the local flocks.

 

Report on the sustention of injuries or apprehension of the civilians who quarreled with military polices is not known. KNG
