Soe Naing, Deputy Director of the municipality office in Kalay sent the notice to the Chin ethnic politician Cin Sian Thang on August 9 asking him to demolish the encroaching section of the house over the street before August 26.

The municipal authority pointed out that some part of Cin Sian Thang's house, constructed on Bogyoke Street in Pinlong Quart, Kalay was encroaching onto the street and flouts the municipal rules of the town.

The notice also warned Cin Sian Thang that if he flouted the order of the municipality it would take legal action against him under the municipal act No. 5/93.

"Some part of our house is encroaching onto the street but it is not too much. The house was built in our estate area. But we are gearing up to face the suit within the legal frame work," Cin Sian Thang's son said.

The municipal authorities had notified Cin Sian Thang to remove the encroaching section twice earlier, according to the notice from the municipality.

Cin Sian Thang was elected a Member of Parliament in the 1990 general election and he is also a member of Committee Representing the Peoples' Parliament (CRPP). – Khonumthung.
