Chin women's campaign on violence against women
December 4, 2007 - A campaign on violence against women was launched today by the Women's League of Chinland (WLC), an umbrella organization of Chin women based in India in Aizawl, capital of Mizoram state, northeast India.

"We talked about violence against women in society we are living in and we aim to send out a message to the people that Chin women have been striving to eradicate domestic violence against women", Miss Cherry Zahau, coordinator of WLC said.
WLC's campaign launch on violence against women was held in Hill Orchid Hotel in Aizawl. The discussion started at noon and concluded in 2 pm.
Moreover, WLC members also distributed pamphlets to participants in a campaign that seeks to educate women on and how to tackle problems in an unsafe society.
In October, WLC also launched the white ribbon campaign as part of its awareness campaign for domestic workers from Chin state, Burma in Mizoram state.
According to source from WLC, Chin women's groups in India are planning to start another campaign relating to violence against women in the near future. – Khonumthung.
