Health training for rural areas of Burma

December 7, 2007 - In an attempt to promote health awareness in impoverished Burma, the National Health Education Committee (Burma) in exile successfully conducted a community health training programme for Burmese health workers on the Indo-Burma border.

The training was launched on September 17 and concluded in Champhai district in Mizoram state, northeast India on December 4.

The health workers will impart whatever they have learnt to those who do not have access to medical care in rural areas of Burma. Nineteen health workers, including seven women, from Burma attended the training programme of the NHEC.

NHEC health programmes are focusing on development of health in ethnic nationalities areas such as Mon, Karen, Karenni, Shan, Kachin, Chin, Arakan and other nationalities from Burma .
