Management training for Burmese activists in northeast India

November 20, 2007 - Burmese activists in exile concentrated in Mizoram state in northeast India were imparted a short 'Community Management Training' course. The training was concluded yesterday.

The training got the off the ground on November 12 and was organized by the Burmese Social Welfare Association (BSWA) based in Mizoram.

The management training was aimed at empowering and enlightening immigrant workers from Burma with knowledge in management to be practiced in their respective work fields.

"Since most Burmese in Mizoram are manual workers, they have no knowledge or education related to management. By educating them on this subject, the people can create a peaceful society," Ko Thwe, secretary of BSWA said.

The subjects taught at the management training were related to managing state for goal achievement, committee and meeting, proposal writing, report writing and financial planning.

"We hope the training will shore up the thinking capacity of Burmese workers here", Ko Thwe added.

Eighteen representatives of the BSWA and six Chin women organizations attended the training. – Khonumthung.
