Truck mishap kills three Chin workers

November 23, 2007 - A truck loaded with hardwood turned turtle on its way from Sei Eh to Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram state, northeast India killing three Chin migrant workers from Burma at dawn today.

At around 3:00 am today, probably because of being overloaded, the truck suddenly turned upside down about four miles from Aizawl.

The police from Aizawl rushed to the spot at around 5 am.

The victims of truck mishap were identified as Phung Lei (21) from Khuahrang village in Thangtlang township, Ngen Khan Tual (20) son of Ngen Khan Tual and Thang Pum Zam (20) son of Ngin Cin Zam from Buang Khua village in Tedim Township in Chin state.

The dead were working as wood cutters in Mizoram. They met with the accident when they were transporting the hardwood to Aizawl for sale.

The bodies of three are being prepared for burial in Aizawl by their relatives and the Burma Social Welfare Association. – Khonumthung.
