Burmese Christians pray for change in Burma

September 10, 2007 - Burmese Christian refugees in India today held a prayer congregation for democratic change in Burma at a Hindu temple in Janakpuri, West New Delhi, India.

"Our prayer meeting focused on the current crisis in Burma," U Sui Lian, one of the conveners of the prayer meeting told Khonumthung News before it began.

The congregation prayed for democratic change in Burma, release of democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi and all other political prisoners, a roll back in fuel and essential commodity prices, peace and freedom to practice individual religious beliefs in Burma.

The congregation also prayed for the demonstrators who are staging peaceful protests over the rise of fuel and basic commodities prices in Burma.    

Dr. Tint Shwe, member of National Coalition Government of Union of Burma (NCGUB) in exile was invited to the prayer meeting as a chief guest. He spoke on the current imbroglio in Burma.

The meeting to pray for resolving the crisis in Burma was organized by the Christian Churches of Burmese refugee communities in New Delhi. – Khonumthung.
