NLD members have vowed to continue the protest unless the military regime fulfills what they asked for. They have not set a time frame for continuation of protests.

"We will continue the protest in future but I can't say when. We are waiting for the response of the authorities to fully meet whatever we have asked for during the protest held earlier this month", said Van Lian, Chairman of NLD in Hakha, capital of Chin state yesterday.

"After the protest, there was little progress from the junta's side. The road side lampposts in capital were on for 24 hours," Van Lian also added,

During the peaceful march held on September 3, the protesters led by NLD demanded  three things, --  rolling back the price of fuel and essential commodities, a halt to the municipalities collecting tax from people and government employees in Chin state to enjoy the same privileges as employees did in other provinces in Burma.

The crowds dispersed after the local administration authorities agreed to submit their demand to Naypidaw, the new administrative capital of Burma.

On September 4, the local authorities warned NLD members that action would be taken according to existing laws which do not allow assembly of more than five people should they continue protest in future.

Today, the Burmese regime responded by using tear gas and beating the protesters, including monks that left some seriously injured and bleeding in Rangoon.

Despite the crackdown on monks and supporters in the protests that have engulfed Burma for eight consecutive days defying the warning of the regime, protesters continue the march on the streets across Burma.
